Full face of Primark beauty; my thoughts…

For those of you who read my blog, you’ll know that I am no stranger to Primark’s beauty range. In fact, I think it is honestly one of the best ranges out there for good quality, affordable makeup. So when they released their new range of base products in 16 different shades, I knew I had to test them out. I also realised that I have so many products from Primark that I can create a full face using just their beauty range

So first up, I primed my face with the £2 primer water. I have never used primer water, I’ve always been a silicone-based gel kinda gal, so when I read that not only was this a water but it also contained no silicones. How is this supposed to prep my face for makeup?! But the nozzle on this bottle produced such a fine mist that set lovely on my face and after a couple of minutes, my face was tacky and ready for my base. I’ll always reach for my gels and cream primers over the water but, nevertheless, this was a good product.

I then moved on to my eyes and used the beautiful ‘PS… Eye Candy’ eyeshadow palette. There are no shade names but I have annotated the picture below to show what shades I used. These shadows produced a teeny bit of fallout but they have a brilliant colour payoff on the lids. This palette is only £4.50 with a mixture of matte and shimmer tones, I love this palette there are so many eye looks that you can create with the combination of colours. I then added the PS…Aqua Lashes mascara to my lashes before applying my fake lashes. This mascara is amazing! For £2.00 I was so impressed and I’m quite funny when it comes to mascara. The wand has a flexible brush which allows me to coat every lash for extra volume and length. I really loved this mascara and it will definitely be replacing my current one.
I then added the £1 ‘full look’ lashes to complete the eye look and these are by far my favourite lashes ever! The band is thin, the lashes themselves are full and feathery, I just adore these lashes. They definitely complete a makeup look in my opinion.

Next up is the range I am most excited about; the ‘My Perfect Colour’ range. Like I mentioned above, the range comes in an impressive 16 shades. Now, 16 shades is no Fenty Beauty but with prices starting from just £2, I think it’s fair to say they’ve done a good job! I picked up the foundation and concealer and my total came to £4.50 and I know that’s cheap but with previous products being so good, I did have good expectations. And girl, let 👏🏼 me 👏🏼 tell 👏🏼you 👏🏼, they did not disappoint! I was so pleasantly surprised at how well these products seemed to work on my pale skin. The foundation is sold as being a ‘medium coverage, semi-matte finish’ which I absolutely loved the sound of. I chose the colour vanilla in the foundation and porcelain in the concealer as I prefer a colour a little lighter to brighten up my undereye.

When they called the range ‘My Perfect Colour’ they were not lying! This has been one of the very rare times where I actually turn around and go; “this is my shade” and mean it. I struggle with undertones and finding the right one to match my skin but this seemed to hit the nail right on the head. The formula was great when applied with my beauty blender and sat so beautifully on my skin, it wasn’t a formula that seemed to sink into my pores which is, obviously, always a plus. I then applied the ‘My Perfect Colour’ concealer in ‘porcelain’ under my eyes, on my chin, down my nose and on my forehead which seemed to brighten up my complexion wonderfully. I, unfortunately, wasn’t able to pick up my shade in either the pressed or loose powder so I just set my base with my usual powder.

haven’t got a bad word to say about this range. For a £2.50 foundation, it really is perfect.

After that, I then had to fill my brows and I used the PS… 3-in-1 Brow Precision Pencil and Powder. Now, I’m used to using my brow pomade but this was definitely a great alternative. The pencil defined my brow hairs and the powder set them in place. I really liked this product.

I then went in with the PS… contour palette which contains four different contour shades, two highlights and two pressed powders. The different contour shades are the perfect mix, there are warm tones as well as cool tones, so this palette really is brilliant for a wide range of different skin tones. I think that the formula is a little difficult to work with in terms of blending but you just have to blend until your arms are sore to get that perfect chiselled cheekbone look.

And my last step in my routine is applying that blinding highlight! My PS… Pure Glow palette is literally my all time favourite highlighter palette of. all. time. I love this palette so much, it’s all I wear and I’ve previously spoken about my love for this palette (In My holy grail highlighters…). A clear dupe for the ABH palette at a fraction of the price.
