Top 10 skincare products I highly recommend…

In my opinion, taking care of your skin is as important as taking care of your body. Not using products to look after your skin and letting the effects of everyday life thrive on your face and into your pores is enough to make even the strongest of stomachs feel a bit queasy. Diet, pollution, dehydration, UV rays and even going to bed – stuff we go through on the daily- is probably the reason your skin is looking dull, dry, tired and even a little grey… (Sounds a bit like the British summertime) Unfortunately there is nothing much we can do about about the naturally-occurring skin polluters but there are a variety of different skincare products that claim to not only protect your skin but to also enhance it. These are my top 10 drugstore holy grail skincare lotions and potions to transform your skin from dull and drab, to bright and fab… (don’t, I’m cringing too…)

  • Soap & Glory- The fab pore purifying foam cleanser 200ml- £8.00 (Boots)

I bought this whilst Boots were doing a deal on Soap and Glory skincare and I couldn’t pass it up. I was on the hunt for a new cleanser and with the reviews on this being so amazing, it went straight in my basket Screenshot 2017-05-24 at 20.08.16
The formula smells amazing, as all S&G products do, and it completely rids me of my oils! If you use it on its own, it can make your face feel dry and tight but pop on a moisturiser and you’re good to go!

  • Garnier- Micellar cleansing water 400ml-£3.33 (Boots)

Ahh, Garnier- the kings and queens of drugstore skincare! This micellar water is just one of the many products on this list and if you’ve ever bought a Garnier skincare product, you’ll understand why. Their cost-effective products are perfect for anyone with problem skin on a budget. They claim that their micellar water contains micelles which act like magnets, gently lifting away makeup and impurities from the skin, without needing to rub or rinse. I’m personally never without a bottle of this and don’t know how my skin ever survived without it!!!

  • Garnier- Moisture bomb tissue mask- £1.99 (Boots)

Garnier are back at it again, this time with their ‘Moisture Bomb’ range, which claims to ‘Intensely re-hydrate skin, reduce the look of fine lines, and revive radiance.’ The serum-soaked mask contains ingredients known for their skincare benefits such as pomegranate extract and hyaluronic acid. This mask is perfect if you’ve noticed that your skin looks dehydrated and dull and you’re looking for a quick fix. So grab some cucumber slices, put on some plinky-plonky music and voila; your very own home spa!

  • Garnier- Moisture bomb night cream- £5.33 (Boots)

No, I promise this post isn’t sponsored by Garnier, their products are just the (moisture) bomb… I really need to learn to stop making embarrassing puns. This night cream has a gel-like texture and really coats the skin; when you wake from your beauty sleep, your skin feels like silk.

  • L’Oreal Paris- Hydra genius liquid care- £6.65 (usually £9.99) (Boots)

Now this product barely had time to be stocked and it is already flying off the shelves and into the hands of skin-care lovers. Its revolutionary formula sinks into the skin and feels instantly absorbed. When they advertised it as being ‘makeup ready’ they were not kidding; you don’t have to fill time by straightening your hair, you can literally moisturise, makeup and go. A staple to have in your skincare collection!

  • Botanics Triple Age Renewal Hydrating Eye Serum- £4.00 (Boots)

Okay, I know people in their 30’s/40’s tell us ‘young-ens’ to stop worrying about getting wrinkles or ‘those aren’t wrinkles, these are real wrinkles’. But there is no wrong in taking care of your under-eye area and delaying the ageing process; after all it is one of the most sensitive areas on your body. Start now, thank you later.

  • Garnier SkinActive Naturals- Rose Moisturiser- £3.99 (Boots)

If you’re looking for a thick moisturiser than this is the one! It’s formula coats skin with a creamy texture and its made with 97% natural ingredients. The main ingredient, rose-water, is brilliant for those of you with sensitive and aggravated skin because of its anti-inflammatory properties. So if you’re dry skin is crying out for moisture but your baffled by the ingredients list on the back of the bottle, this one’s for you.

  • The Body Shop- Vitamin E day lotion with SPF30- £15 (The Body Shop)

Okay, so a little on the pricier side for skincare but when has The Body Shop ever failed when it comes to our skin? With Biofermented Hyaluronic Acid being one of the active ingredients, its lightweight texture and SPF 30 this little bottle packs a punch! It’s certainly worth saving your pennies for.

  • Simple- Kind To Skin Micellar Cleansing Wipes- £4.19 (Boots)

So you’ve just come in from a night out, kebab smeared over your chin and wondering where the hell your other lash is. All you want to do is crawl in to bed and get lost in the drunken haze but the thought of sleeping in the makeup that you spent almost two hours perfecting for it all to be seeping into the pores you work all week to keep unblocked and clean makes you want to heave (or is that just the mix of the 3 for £5 Jäger bombs, dancing and kebab swirling in your stomach?).  Anyway, what I’m getting at is that you quite simply cannot be arsed to do a full skincare routine drunk at 3am. That’s where these handy little wipes come in; drenched in Simple micellar water and all in one (or two depending on how dramatic your eye makeup was) wipe. They do all the work of a soaked cotton pad in a few swipes. Now you can sleep easy knowing that the only guilt you wake up with is wondering what on earth possessed you to eat that kebab

  • Soap & Glory- Greatest Scrub Of All 150ml- £9.00 (Boots)

I HEART SOAP AND GLORY SKIN CARE!!! The fragrance, the formula, heck even the packaging is so sophisticated that you feel like it should have been picked up in Selfridges and not your local Boots. This scrub gets rid of all your stubborn dry patches and leaves your face feeling silky smooth. Love, love, love!
